My stomach would get super hard. Something I didn't have with Allison and nothing that I recall with Emily. While in labor with Emily I was on Pitocin so nothing was "real". Well the contractions hurt and continued throughout the day. We went over to Tom's brother's house to help with some home improvements and dinner. While eating dinner I was having more contractions and Tom asked me are they regular? It then occurred to me, perhaps I should time these. Well over an hour I was having contractions every 5-7 minutes with them lasting 30-45 seconds and they hurt. I actually had to breath through them.

We left Tom's brothers house got the girls a bath and I called the doctor, he said I should go to the hospital to be monitored. So Tom had to take a shower and I finished my packing we took the girls back to Tom's brother's house and off we were to the hospital. We ended up getting our parking ticket at 10:24pm.

We went straight up to labor and delivery. I was set up on monitors for about an hour and the doctor called in to check up on me. The nurse confirmed exactly what I had told the doctor about my contractions. He said since I am there that he would just take the baby it'd be a matter of a day. The biggest worry I had is my doctor was on call at a different hospital July 4th and I didn't want to have to choose between him at the hospital I didn't want to deliver at and the hospital I wanted to deliver at. So I was happy he said he'd take Charles. The doctor was told the operating room was currently in use with a patient delivering twins so he should get to the hospital around 1:30am.

While we were waiting for the twins to be delivered I was admitted and prepped for surgery. I was shocked that it all happened so quickly. When we got to the hospital I really wasn't expecting to have a baby. I was thinking he'd send me home until Monday.

It became time for me to be wheeled into surgery. I told Tom I'd see him in a few minutes and I went onto the operating table. The anesthesiologist started to give me my spinal. He had a hard time at first but after about 30 minutes he got it to work. I hate getting the spinals just because it's in my back and all... Once it's in it's pure bliss! After that the anesthesiologist said "look at that.. her blood pressure went right down!".

Tom was escorted into surgery and he held my hand. At that point I was already having claustrophobia issues. The sheet in front of my face, laying flat on the table, my throat was dry, I was itchy... It was taking the doctor longer than usual to get "in there" because I had quite a bit of scar tissue. The doctor asked for the vacuum - all I thought is I don't want my baby to have a vacuum head, but if that's what we need to do - get him out already!! Once he was in he pulled Charles out... I heard them say "IT'S A BOY!". I started to freak because I couldn't hear him cry. That's everything a mom longs to hear upon delivering their child is that first cry. It took awhile and I knew something was wrong.

I then was told that Charles would have to be transferred to the NICU; he aspirated meconium. I figured it was because he was up so high and it took them awhile to get him out. Charles was in the NICU for 4 days. The first two days was really rough. He had IV's and oxygen in the isolette. It was really hard to see him with all of these tubes and such. But I knew that we delivered at our hospital for their NICU reputation so we knew he was in good hands.

The first day recovery was difficult for me it took forever for the spinal to wear off and I was super itchy. Once the meds wore off I was able to go downstairs to the NICU to meet my little man for the first time. He was so precious.

The care he received was amazing. The NICU staff were so caring and understanding and really made it a point that all parents had some involvement in their children's recovery. I was told by one of the NICU nurses that it really helped Charles' recovery.

We are all home doing wonderful!

Here's some more pictures of Charles and our family.

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-71199224434724325852010-07-07T21:47:00.000-04:002010-07-07T21:47:41.999-04:00Welcome Charlie!Today we welcomed our son,Charles Thomas to the world. He came a day sooner than expected, but he's here!

Here's a picture of our sweet boy to hold everyone over with until I am able to post about his birth.

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-66605572863478360582010-07-01T19:20:00.000-04:002010-07-01T19:20:02.200-04:004th (and last) Weekly AppointmentToday was my last appointment. All went really well. My blood pressure was elevated a bit, but there wasn't much of a concern because I am delivering this little guy on Monday. The NST was good. I had a decent contraction on there so I am hoping this weekend they aren't too bad. The only thing I loved about the NST's is listening to his heart beat. It's so strong and has given me the opportunity to connect with our baby boy.

I have gained a total of 18lbs as of today... now I am not worried about it at all because I did good!

I am still 1cm dilated. The baby is still high and not effaced at all.

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-35539052898136971642010-07-01T19:14:00.000-04:002010-07-01T19:14:10.454-04:00Belly Shot - 38w5dI'll probably end up taking one more before we go to the hospital, but here's one of our last baby pictures!

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-78225555870667386702010-06-22T12:53:00.002-04:002010-06-22T12:56:42.050-04:003rd Weekly AppointmentThis morning I had my appointment... Everything went well. Baby's NST went great! His accelerations were wonderful. His resting heart rate is in the upper 130's now. Boy is he active towards the end of this pregnancy. He's all over the place having all kinds of fun!

I have gained a total of 15lbs as of today... I am retaining a bit of water in my legs which is probably cause of the extra few pounds, but I am really right on track and quite proud of myself.

I am 1cm dilated and not effaced at all, baby is still pretty high. So all of this is good news to me!

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-79711228607597840502010-06-22T12:23:00.000-04:002010-06-22T12:55:20.766-04:00Already thinking about Christmas...We are talking about spending Christmas in Florida again this year... Baby spends these last weeks in preparation for the outside world… meaning careful refinement of the blink, suck, inhale and exhale. Meconium, which you’ll probably find in the first diaper, is accumulating in the intestines. If (okay, as) you worry about giving birth, consider what it’s like for the little one. During the journey out of your womb, baby will produce more stress hormones than any other time in life.

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-429588384432349932010-06-15T20:30:00.000-04:002010-06-15T20:30:55.129-04:002nd Weekly Appointment Today I had my second weekly appointment. I am down 2lbs totaling my weight gain at 10lbs. I am so proud of myself!!

We discussed in great detail about heart defects in my side of the family now knowing we are having a boy. Dr. B says he hasn't seen anything of any concern. I will make sure I say something after the baby is born at the hospital. If there is any indication the hospital I will be delivering at the head of the pediatrics department is a pediatric cardiologist so testing would be able to be done within hours of his birth.

Until next week!

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-21220698471364984272010-06-14T20:27:00.000-04:002010-06-15T20:31:20.803-04:00Ultrasound -- Scan 9 Today is such a glorious day! Today I believe we had our last ultrasound and we finally found out what you are!!

Dr. B had a patient in labor at the hospital so he was doing the necessary measurements to make sure everything was ok with you. Everything was measuring on target with the exception of your belly. It was a little big, but nothing we should be concerned with. I asked Dr. B before he started if he could tell me what you are if he got a shot and he said I already had it on my to-do list. As he was finishing up he said so do you want to know what you are having? I said YES! He held out on me until my scan was done and said we are having a BOY!! I couldn't believe it. I asked him if he was serious and he said yes, I said I needed proof! I needed something to show Tom.

I got the picture below as proof!

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-29764372865269944082010-06-12T08:38:00.000-04:002010-06-12T08:38:11.790-04:001st Weekly AppointmentTuesday I had a doctor's appointment. My NST went well. The baby was moving around A LOT. Probably because I ate before my appointment. I had raisin bran crunch which was pretty good. After my NST I was told that Dr. B was running late. So I waited.

In total I have gained 11lbs since I have become pregnant. So going into this last month I feel proud of myself.

We scheduled my c-section for July 5th at 9:30am. Dr. B really wanted to do it on July 4th, but the hospital said they wouldn't bring in a surgical team on a holiday and a weekend. I am totally bummed, but that's ok.

I am now on weekly appointments until you come! I am on a final countdown to see you!

I have 20 days of work left and 23 days until you are here!

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-26357447899882058452010-06-05T10:11:00.000-04:002010-06-05T10:11:54.707-04:00Thoughts...Today I am 35 weeks and I truly can't believe it! I can't believe we are nearing the end of the pregnancy. Within the next month we will have 3 babies and we will finally know what your gender is. It's been the laugh for the majority of our pregnancy because we don't know what your gender is. We still haven't settled on names so everything is truly "up in the air". I just worry if you are a boy because Daddy will end up going on a shopping spree to get you clothes. If you are a girl... well I have a lot of digging in Allison's old closet for clothes. So I think I am to the point where I am going to go to Carter's and get you a few outfits boy/girl and take back the ones that we do not need. Not being prepared is driving me insane!!!

I go to the doctor this week and we will schedule your birthday... which likely will be July 5th. There's really no other day we can schedule surgery unless I go into labor sooner (the 4th maybe - hint, hint). I just hope the next few weeks go by quickly. I am starting to retain some water which I had the same problem with Emily. So here's to hoping!

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-57177736603462553132010-06-05T09:46:00.000-04:002010-06-05T09:46:05.620-04:00Date Night!Last night Tom and I went on a date. It was so nice to actually get away and enjoy each others company. We went to P.F. Chang's and saw a movie. We were out late (12:30). Funny how as we become adults we reminisce about being out late as teens or young adults.

This is likely our last time out "alone" before we have the baby and I will savor the moment for a long time. A big thank you to G&J for watching our kids last night so we could have a date!!

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-60127831699910316652010-06-02T07:59:00.000-04:002010-06-28T20:01:39.570-04:00Happy Birthday Emily!! Emily's birthday was today! She is now officially 9 years old. She is now in the last year of single digits moving upwards and onwards to double digits making us OLD!

My sweet girl is getting so big and grown up. I am so very lucky to have her. The next day (Mother's Day) we went to the Minute Clinic at CVS and found out Emily had two really severe ear infection in both of her ears. She didn't complain one bit until that Sunday saying her ear hurt. Emily is very good with tolerating pain so I knew something was wrong.

Allison also was seen at the Minute Clinic and they said she was fine. It was just a cold. The next day while at Grandma's her ears started to drain, which meant she, too, had an ear infection in both ears!

Tom ended up at the doctor's office on Monday and found out he was sick with a sinus infection and was put on antibiotics and an awesome cough syrup (i wish I could take).

I ended up and went to the doctor this Wednesday to find out I have bronchitis with a touch of pneumonia. With me being pregnant I can barely take anything which is really difficult. I feel nothing but miserable and I can barely breathe when I cough. I went back to the doctor today because I am not feeling any better at all. They said I pretty much have to "stick it out" because with me being "with baby" treatment options are very limited. So I feel like I will cough this baby up at any moment, my belly muscles are so sore. But this to shall pass. I am glad this happened now instead of right before I am supposed to have the baby because being sick like this would pretty much limit my options with anesthesia in case there were to be any complications.

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-16807089861192868882010-05-22T08:44:00.000-04:002010-05-22T08:44:00.140-04:00Weeks 33 - 36 -- 8 MonthsThis month the baby is the size of a HONEYDEW!

Baby’s senses are continuing to improve -- when light peeks in through your (extremely) stretched belly, those tiny eyelids and irises blink and dilate. And, baby can now recognize and react to simple songs… time to start practicing your lullabies! It was a really special day for all of us. It was nice to see her be so excited and get dressed up in her white dress and veil.

I will have to post pictures once I get them uploaded on my computer.

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-49441975856838892312010-04-30T09:16:00.002-04:002010-05-02T09:24:13.040-04:00Belly Shot - 29w5d

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-88393171987200026382010-04-24T08:39:00.000-04:002010-05-02T09:26:41.283-04:00Weeks 29 - 32 -- 7 MonthsThis month the baby is the size of a SQUASH!

Baby’s energy is surging, thanks to the formation of white fat deposits beneath the skin. (Have those kicks and jabs to the ribs tipped you off yet?) Baby is also settling into sleep and waking cycles, though -- as you’ve also probably noticed -- they don’t necessarily coincide with your own. Also this month, all five senses are finally functional, and the brain and nervous system are going through major developments.

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-40347742700581591372010-04-20T20:29:00.003-04:002010-04-20T20:37:35.484-04:0028 Week Well Check UpToday marked a first for me. I had to have my first non-stress test (NST) for baby. I go in 30 minutes before my scheduled appointment and the nurse puts me on a monitor to monitor the baby's movement for accelerations and contractions. Dr. B's nurse really pissed this baby off today. It was kinda funny. Baby's heart rate is slowing down a bit more and was at 142bpm. It was very active and trying to punch off the monitors.

--- On a side note I didn't post about my last visit - shame on me. ---

I have gained a total of 8lbs this entire pregnancy. I am proud of myself. I have a goal of 15lbs total. I hope that I don't go over that especially delivering in the summer. I will try my best. I have been wearing compression socks and they have been helping me out with swelling a lot.

My blood pressure was great, which is always a worry of mine. I passed my glucose test at a 120 which is well within the normal limits.

Only bad thing is, again, I am anemic. That would explain why I was literally in bed at 8:30 last night. Now I am going to try to get more iron in me with diet before I go to the pill. Those iron pills wreak havoc on my intestines! I will have a repeat of the lab work in a month to see where my levels are.

I have my next appointment in 3 weeks then I start my 2 week appointments. I am still coming to terms with the fact we are expecting a third child let alone its getting to the point where it's almost here!!

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-5699131321356533292010-04-20T20:23:00.003-04:002010-04-20T20:25:02.195-04:00Belly Shot - 25w3dThis picture is 3 weeks late, but better late than never. I will get better at actually posting these on time.

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-71938763303502438592010-04-17T20:25:00.000-04:002010-04-20T20:28:57.823-04:00BowlingLast night we took the girls bowling - Allison for her first time and Emily for her second (first was for a birthday party).

We went to dinner with some friends of ours and they asked us to join them and bowl. We truly did have a blast. The girls bowled well, Emily beat Allison both games, but Allison sure gave Emily a run for her money.

Allison was picking up a 6 lb ball and heaving it down the lane like it was nothing.

I beat Tom the first game and got a 132 and he beat me the second game, but I was super tired so I had a good excuse. It's been years since we have bowled together. We just may take our friends up and join a league with them in January.

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133827.post-56975606212572918752010-04-13T19:11:00.003-04:002010-04-20T20:15:36.446-04:00Ultrasound Scan 7We STILL do not know what you are!! It's so frustrating! You are hiding behind your placenta and umbilical cord is going through your legs and your legs were crossed. I know you haven't moved from the last time. I can tell from how your movement has been there hasn't been any changes. Dr. B confirmed it. Your heart rate was good - didn't get an actual number.

I am pushing Daddy again for names!!

"Jet"noreply@blogger.com0
